Guest speakers will be film director Piotr Szkopiak and producer Carol Harding to talk about their new film "The Last Witness". The story, co-written by Piotr, is set in 1947 in and around a post-war displacement camp in the south west of England and deals with the Soviet massacre of Polish officers and citizens in Katyń in 1940. Piotr has extensive experience in the industry both of directing films and TV drama serials. This is Piotr's fifteen-year project in the making based on one of Poland's darkest tragedies which is now ready to be seen by audiences worldwide. Kresy Family Annual General Meeting
Friday 24 November 2017, at 2 pm at the Kresy Family offices:
3rd Floor, Mauldeth House, Nell Lane, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester M21 7RL
This will be our second Annual General Meeting since our constitution was signed on 17 September 2015. The meeting will be conducted face-to-face and everyone is invited to attend. For anyone unable to travel to Manchester we will do our best to connect via Skype. We expect the meeting to take around 60 minutes.
The purpose of the AGM is:
to receive a report from the Chairperson on the Group's activities over the year;
to receive a report from the Treasurer on the finances of the Group;
to elect a new Management Committee; and
to consider any other matter as may be decided.
Please let me know by 20 November if you would like to attend in person or via Skype, so that we can plan accordingly.
Election of the Management Committee for the next year:
Existing Committee members are requested to notify by 17 November 2017 their intention to stay serving as a MC member or to step down. Please send your notifications to me as KF Secretary(firstname.lastname@example.org).
New candidates for Management Committee members are requested to send their nominations to me as KF Secretary (email@example.com), also by 20 November 2017.
The nominees are requested to write a few words about themselves, confirming their availability to serve and identifying any specific skills/interests they can contribute (e.g. IT, website, finance, marketing, fundraising, translation work, etc.).
Responsibilities and expectations:
Several current Management Committee members have taken up specific areas of work under their wings: for example, work on our website and Facebook, preparation for events and exhibitions, fundraising, growing cooperation with other groups/individuals on future projects. Not every Committee member needs to take up an individual field of responsibility, however, all MC members are expected, as a minimum, to participate in the monthly Management Committee meetings via Skype and contribute to the Kresy Family work in some form. If you would like to have a chat about these roles, please ring Eva on (+44) 07527 772668.
Our constitution allows for up to 12 Management Committee members. Should we have more nominees than available places, we would then need to add a voting procedure during the AGM. This would be explained at the beginning of the AGM.
Looking forward to meeting many of you on the 24th of November in Manchester.
