In 1947, he was sent to England, where he was discharged from the army and sent to a refugee camp in Pipers Wood, near Tring in Buckinghamshire.  The Miłoszewski family was reunited in England and were faced with living and working in a new country, learning a new language and adapting to a different culture. 

These were happy times for the Miłoszewski family in the refugee camp in Tring. They were safe, together and no longer starving. Their future lay in England.

​9. Exile in UK

Jan at the end of the war realised he had no home to return to.  His homeland, annexed in September 1939, under the Yalta agreement of February 1945 had now been incorporated into the USSR, the very same authority which had deported him to Siberia.

Teresa, having studied nursing in Tanganyika and England, started work in a local hospital. She married Franciszek Rafalat on December 26, 1949.
